I’ve been writing since I was 7 years old. When I was a kid, I thought I could make a living with writing. Eventually, I realized that was highly unlikely, and I shifted my goals a little.
Since then, I’ve published a few short pieces in magazines and one novel, and I expect to see my second novel, For My Child, in stores within the next few months. I write using my maiden name, Spiegel.
My first novel was published in May 2013. Search for the Lost Children is a YA novel, published by Jerusalem Publications and distributed by Feldheim. It took four years of writing and editing before my book came out. It is mostly sold out in the stores near me, but is still available online here.
Here is the description from the back cover:
A box of old photo albums spills open, revealing a painful family tragedy buried for decades.
“Look at this picture, Rochel. Who’s the baby in Bubby’s lap? And who is this boy standing next to Zeidy?”
“The boy must be Abba, and the baby must be Aunt Shaindel.”
“But don’t you see something funny about these pictures? Doesn’t something look wrong?”
Rochel turned the photos over. “The dates are wrong.”
“That’s what I meant. This picture was taken in 1943, and Abba wasn’t born until 1946.”
Who are the children in the picture? And, more important, can they be found? Budapest holds many secrets, and as the Iron Curtain slowly lifts, a family searches for the lost children.
